Oklahoma State junior linebacker Mason Cobb became the first Cowboy to unofficially enter the transfer portal on Saturday night (the portal officially opens on Monday, Dec. 5).
Cobb was one of OSU's more productive defenders in the 2022 regular season, his first as a starter. He totaled 96 tackles, two sacks, forced a fumble and had one interception.
Rumored possible destinations for Cobb include Texas A&M, South Carolina and (his home state school) Utah.
For its part, the coaching staff may well have been aware and ahead of Cobb's Saturday announcement. They extended an offer to Tulsa linebacker Justin Wright on Wednesday, shortly after Wright announced his intention to enter the portal.
Cowboy fans may need to brace themselves for more transfer portal entries. Cobb is the first, but won't be the last Cowboy to enter the portal - and likely will not be the only current starter.
