Versatility Key to First Offer for 2018 Palmer

Tight end has been a position that Oklahoma State has really been focusing on in the coming years and have made it apparent with the offers that have gone out over the past few months.

The staff though has added another one to an in-state prospect from Westmoore High School.

James Palmer, a 6-foot-3, 210-pound prospect from Oklahoma, announced that he had received his first offer from Oklahoma State, an offer that didn’t surprise him but certainly is grateful for.

“Well, when I first received the offer, I was indeed excited but not surprised,” Palmer said. “I try to set my goals high, so when I reach them, I will be able to keep a level head. I think Oklahoma State would be a good fit according to my versatility as a tight end and H-Back. They basically told me that everything I do for my high school, they want me to do at Oklahoma State.”

Having the work finally pay off for Palmer is a relief and for a school like Westmoore, they haven’t had a big offer prospect like Palmer in some time now. So he admits, it does have some significance to him early on in his recruitment.

Other schools could be coming hard for this junior tight end, as schools like Tulsa, SMU, Stanford, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Alabama, Nebraska, and Navy have all expressed interest his way. Palmer even said schools like SMU and Tulsa could be the next to offering him, sooner rather than later.

With the Cowboys on board first and their need at tight end, Palmer would be a great fit in their style of offense, as he has the ability to really stretch the field.

Last season, Palmer recorded 35 receptions for 508 yards, averaging 15 yards per catch and 50 yards per game for Westmoore, as the Jaguars finished with a 4-6 overall record.
