Three-star Garland, Texas, wide receiver Shamond Greenwood may have stood to pick up some more offers over the course of his senior season, but opted to commit to Oklahoma State in early August.

That’s not to say that he’s still not hearing from several programs trying to pull him away from his pledge to the Cowboys.

“Every day,” he said of how often he’s contacted by other schools. “I would say Kansas, Colorado State, Utah and others I can’t really think of right now are still calling me, but I just feel like Oklahoma State is perfect for me.”

Greenwood would be a welcome addition to any recruiting class, but he offers size and speed to the receiver position that the Cowboys don’t otherwise have among the rest of their commitments in 2017. In his Week 1 matchup with Waxahachie, sharing a field littered with top Division I talent at the wide receiver position, Greenwood held his own and finished with 150 yards receiving and two touchdowns.

IN HIS WORDS

On why he chose to commit to Oklahoma State before the season

“They invited me to a camp and it just felt like home,” he said. “Beautiful facility and the best campus that I had been to all summer. They texted me tonight before the game to get out and get after it, so it’s a real good feeling with them.”

On the group of receivers committed to OSU in 2017

“I feel like it’s going to be an excellent class,” he said. “In 2017 we have the best class of receivers, it’s not just me and [Braydon Johnson] we have Tylan Wallace and it’s gonna be perfect out there with those guys. I feel like we’re really going to do something special there.”

RIVALS REACTION

Greenwood has an ‘ah, shucks’ quality about him, and doesn’t seem too interested in giving teams the runaround when it comes to his recruitment. He is a big-bodied receiver that runs hard and gives a physicality to the Cowboys’ class in the passing attack that they don’t have with their other commitments. He said that he’s yet to figure out how many or which games he will attend in Stillwater this season, but says that he is trying to coordinate his next visit with some of the other commits in this year’s class.

“Me, Jelani (Woods) and the twins (Tylan and Tracin Wallace) are all trying to go to a game together,” he said. “I’m trying to make it to every home game that I can.”
