Peloza Going Places

Owl Sports Watch got a call today from Dallas high school Quarterback John Peloza letting us know he is changing schools for his senior year.

John gave us the low-down when we returned his call.

"Yeah I wanted to let you know I'm transferring to Dallas Greenhill High School for my senior year. I was told by my coach that I would never play a down at Quarterback at Plano West, and that I was being moved to Receiver. I don't see my self as a Receiver in college so I decided to move to a school where I could play Quarterback."

Plano West returns QB Michael Pruneau who had starts last year but posted limited stats. With a crowded backfield, and position switch looming, Peloza decided moving on was best.

"I run around 4.8 (in the forty) which is probably just fast enough to move around and do the things I need to do in the pocket as a QB. But that time obviously isn't going to get me recruited as a Receiver. I want to play Quarterback in college so I decided to move to a school where I can get on the field."

The 6-5 215 pound Peloza is being recruited by many schools as a Quarterback, including Rice. In fact, Peloza impressed Owl coaches at the Rice Mini Camp in Arlington with his mobility and arm.

Dallas Greenhill was 3-7 last year and plays in SPC Division I, which includes opponents Bellaire Episcopal and Houston St. John's.

In hopes of increasing his exposure, Peloza has been traveling extensively this summer on the college camp circuit.

"I went to camps at Rice (Arlington), Tulane, Oklahoma State, Tulsa, TCU, and Vanderbilt."

Of those schools two stick out for him.

"I probably get the most mail from Rice and Vanderbilt. I'd say they're probably my top schools right now."

OSW will have more from the well traveled Peloza this fall as the Owls continue to evaluate him at his new school.
