Randle, Sharp prepare for this weekend's NFL Combine
It's that time of year again.
Players from all around the country are in the process of trying to make a name for themselves as the 2013 NFL Draft heads our way, and two from Oklahoma State are included.
Joseph Randle and Quinn Sharp were the only two players from OSU invited to this weekend's NFL Combine in Indianapolis, so let's check out their schedules so we can keep as close an eye as possible on them.
Wednesday: Arrive, registration, pre-physical, team interviews.
Thursday: Measurements, medical examinations, media availability, interviews.
Friday NFL Players Association meeting, weight workouts, interviews.
Saturday: On-field workouts (Forty-yard dash, position-specific skill drills, etc.), departure.
Randle will follow the same schedule as Sharp, but everything will be a day later (i.e., Randle will do Sharp's Wednesday activities on Thursday, his Thursday on Friday, etc.).
As far as the outlook for the two and other possible draft candidates, it isn't the strongest draft class OSU will ever put out.
Kickers aren't usually too in-demand at the draft, as we saw with former K Dan Bailey a few years back, but if Sharp isn't picked up late, he'll be signed within hours or days of the draft's conclusion. He's too special of a talent for that not to happen.
For Randle, it's a different story. He put together two incredibly solid years for the Pokes, but there are some worries about him at the next level.
CBS Sports has Randle being drafted in the 2nd to 3rd round, and their reasoning for that is that he's not exactly your prototypical running back build. He's a little taller than most, and he's got a skinny frame.
But for every negative, there's a positive for him. He's coming from a system in which he caught a ton of passes out of the backfield, and the more diverse you can be in the NFL, the better chance you have at earning a paycheck.
We'll certainly keep an eye on the Combine this weekend, and you can follow me on Twitter for immediate updates at @brendon_wm. We'll also have coverage on the site at the conclusion of the weekend.
