Hoops Showcase at Nike Extravaganza

The annual NIKE Extravaganza was held at Mater Dei on Friday and Saturday. BruinBlitz.com attended the Saturday evening session of this outstanding event which had several UCLA related themes. A total of four games were played.

Huntington Beach (Calif.) Ocean View/Orange (Calif.) Orange Lutheran

The first game of the session was an interesting contest between Ocean View and Orange Lutheran. Ocean View, led by the dynamic duo of 6-6 senior wing Anthony Brown and 6-3 senior point guard Avery Johnson, defeated a good Orange Lutheran team 83-67. The game was dominated by Brown and Johnson who had 32 points and 30 points respectively.
Brown, who is headed to Stanford, is exactly the kind of athlete that UCLA could use. He is very young for his class and has considerable upside. He is skilled and outstanding in transition and will be an outstanding wing in the Pac-10. Johnson is one of the best unsigned players in California. He is a very good athlete who also is becoming more and more skilled and plays hard on both ends of the floor. He will make a great catch for any school that offers him.
