Top 2011 QB has ties to A&M
Denton Guyer quarterback J.W. Walsh is already widely considered to be one of the state of Texas' top signal-callers in the class of 2011. Though injured for most of the 2008 regular season, he came back in time to lead Guyer to the state semifinals by rushing and passing for over 2,000 yards.
The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Walsh is listed as a dual-threat quarterback because of his athleticism, but this year he will be looked to be more of a passer than a runner. To that end, he and his teammates participated in numerous 7-on-7 events this summer with Guyer reaching the quarterfinals of the state tournament in College Station.
The quarterback and his father, Guyer head coach John Walsh, recently made a return trip to the Texas A&M campus to watch the Aggies' first scrimmage earlier this month. Both seemed to come away impressed with the experience, although they already have some ties to the program.
