Spring Preview: Defensive line
If you looked back at Oklahoma State defensive lines over the last 30 years, you would find that the Cowboys were typically either fairly strong at defensive end, or that the entirety of the defensive line was a little below par for the league they were in at the time. Sure, there were occasional studs like Leslie O'Neill or Kevin Williams on the interior, but over time that's been an Achilles' Heel for Oklahoma State defenses.
It's a totally different story this spring, where defensive tackle Calvin Barnett and nose tackle James Castleman return as starters - and arguably OSU's best interior defensive line tandem in many years.
At end, only senior Tyler Johnson returns from last season's two-deep, but there is help on the way in JUCO transfer and early enrollee Sam Wren, as well as a host of young sophomores and redshirt freshman. Additionally, Davidell Collins is expected to be tried at his more natural position at end, after contributing as an undersized interior lineman the first three years of his career.
