Gundy sidesteps questions on job rumors
Brendon Morris
OStateIllustrated.com Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy hosted a teleconference on Sunday evening to talk about the team's bowl game, but the conversation quickly took a turn and headed straight for coaching rumors.
All weekend, Twitter and online forums have been blazing with rumors surrounding the Cowboy head coach. Some said Tennessee, others said Arkansas, but none were ever backed up with anything.
After the team's game against Baylor on Saturday, Gundy didn't really say anything of the rumors, as was expected. After all, his team had just finished their regular season.
That was finally out of the way, and on Sunday he got his chance to squash the rumors that he'd pull up stakes from his alma mater and run for the money. He didn't.
"I'd never comment on another job," Gundy said. "My main concern right now is on Oklahoma State."
Nothing much in his quote, so a few questions passed, then someone tried again. "Is there anything you would like to deny surrounding the rumors and your job?" Gundy kept it short, saying "I'd prefer not to talk about anything that isn't Oklahoma State."
Obviously, Gundy didn't say "I'm heading to Tennessee" or "I'm staying in Stillwater", but he didn't pour water on the fire and call in the dogs either.
Only time will tell what sideline Gundy plans to roam next season. O-State Illustrated will keep our finger on this story's pulse as time goes on.
