The latest on Lunt
It's no secret that freshman quarterback Wes Lunt went down with a knee injury during Oklahoma State's game against Louisiana two weeks ago, but the details of the injury have been the complete opposite-secretive.
After a week of nothing from the team on Lunt, coach Mike Gundy opened up a bit about it at his weekly media luncheon, offering tidbits of information that will likely get dissected all week as the team prepares for the Texas Longhorns on Saturday.
"They cut him out of his cast and said he looked good," Gundy said of the OSU doctors. "There's nothing to hide. They put him in a cast and cut it off yesterday. Other than that, he hobbles around on crutches."
The school and coach have not discussed the specific nature of the injury, though the Fox Sports broadcast appeared to show a knee injury. In the week of practice since the injury, backup J.W. Walsh has been given the reigns of the starting offense - just like he was in finishing the game against Louisiana.
As for Lunt, he's been locked up in the cast trying to recover as quickly as possible, and obviously away from practice.
Gundy hinted that there's a possibility of Lunt contributing to Saturday's game in some form or another, but went on to say that he expects Walsh to play a majority of the game at this point in time.
"I don't know what he's like right now," Gundy said of Lunt.
